…wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built in garages, on workbenches, on ranges, and over decades of genuine passion for the tools and skills of self-reliance.

I've been shooting most of my life. Riflery team through school, knives on my belt before I was old enough to carry a pistol, and a lifelong obsession with gear that actually works. That obsession eventually led me to a sewing machine, a Singer 5511 that quickly proved itself unequal to the task, and eventually to a Juki industrial machine that could keep up with what I was building: plate carrier systems, tactical accessories, gear designed for people who take preparedness seriously. When sewing alone became overly-repetitive, I learned to smith blades. It fit naturally. Everything connected.

What didn't connect, for a long time, was the ability to carry a firearm in New York. I carried a knife for years knowing it was insufficient. Then in 2022, Bruen changed everything. I got my permit, started carrying, and threw myself into training. Began locally, then moved on to Sig Academy. The more I trained, the more I realized how much there was to learn, and how few people around me had access to serious instruction.

That's where Defensive Dynamics comes from. I've spent my life learning things I cared about and sharing them with anyone who would listen. Now I'm doing it formally. Whether you've never touched a firearm or you're looking to sharpen skills you already have, this is the place to do it — with an instructor who has lived everything he teaches.

The Skull:

Represents mortality. Not in a morbid or threatening way, but as the foundational why behind everything we teach. You carry because life is finite and worth protecting. The skull doesn’t say “I’m dangerous.” In this context it says “I understand the stakes.” It’s the same reason memento mori has been used by warriors, philosophers, and stoics for centuries — awareness of death sharpens the way you live.

The Blindfold:

Justice - blindfolded justice is the most universal symbol of impartiality. Defense doesn’t discriminate. Your training prepares anyone regardless of background, gender, or experience level. The law protects everyone equally, and so does a trained defender.

Faith in training over sight - elite performers talk about trusting muscle memory when conscious thought fails. The blindfolded skull can represent operating on pure training when the chaos of a real situation narrows your vision.

The Hood:

Humility and anonymity. This isn’t about ego or bravado - the hooded figure is a protector who doesn’t seek recognition. You train not to be feared, but to protect.
